CINNAMON SUGAR CHURROS WITH GULA MELAKA

Preparation

  • Heat vegetable oil to 180°C or till you see smoke rising for deep frying.

  • Add water, butter, sugar and salt into a sauce pan and bring to boil over medium heat. Mix well to ensure ingredients have melted evenly.

  • Add in flour and reduce to low heat, stirring constantly with a spatula till mixture becomes well combined and minimal flour is seen.

  • Transfer dough to a large mixing bowl and cool for about 5 mins.

  • Add in McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract and egg and mix well till the dough achieves a smooth texture.

  • Transfer dough into a piping bag with star tip.

  • Pipe dough into oil according to the length your prefer and deep fry for 10-15 mins and remove.

  • Heat a pot of water and add in gula melaka (coconut sugar) and stir till the sugar melts completely. Set aside to cool to room temperature.

  • Drizzle gula melaka sauce onto churros or serve as dip.

  • In a bowl, evenly mix McCormick® Ground Cinnamon with sugar, and sieve onto the churros to serve.
